I live in the suburbs. A mutt is considered wildlife, given that black labs and golden retrievers are my neighborhood’s dogs of choice. So when I saw two turkeys swoop down on the sidewalk in front of me this morning, I was both startled and delighted. And I nearly spilled my latte, which would not have turned out well for anyone.

I’d heard the rumors that a flock of wild turkeys had invaded the area. There were even a few blurry photos posted on the local e-list. But this fella was up close and personal, and I managed to grab my phone and snap a pic before he wandered off in the direction of the local sushi bar. A California roll? Teriyaki? Or perhaps edamame would be more to his liking.

Anyway, whether your household is home to barnyard critters or the traditional cats and dogs, be sure to take their pictures. You’ll want to include them in your family photo book.

Cheers,

vintage photo grandparentYou may have taken photos during the holidays. Don’t let them disappear in to the cybersphere. At the very least, place them in safe storage, some place like Google Photos, Flickr, or Dropbox.

And what about your photos from last Christmas? Or your kids’ baby photos, school photos, soccer photos, or graduation photos? I can compile them all into customized, colorful books. You may want a book of “Baby’s First Year” pictures, or a collection of your young athlete’s action shots. Maybe you would like a permanent collection of your son’s or daughter’s elementary school or high school activities.

And how about family history? Do you have photos of parents, grandparents or great-grandparents stored “somewhere?” Bring them out and have them safely scanned. Let me preserve them in a family history book with narrative from your elderly relatives or genealogical information.

Here’s to preserving our old photos during the new year.

Cheers,
